Flap Copy Makeover

Before

From Distorted Powers of Risliyon, by Kara Anne SchreiberShawna Benedict, the realm’s highest military commander and a top-level
sorceress, frequently faced opponents aided by magic. However, the wizards
serving in the Risliyon army distort magic, creating battle spells her magicians
cannot counter and twisted wounds they cannot heal. Even Shawna’s
phenomenal sorcery skills often fail to dissolve the spells and mend the injuries.
Strategies crumble against their magic.

Shawna must learn how they pervert magic or the slaughtering will spread.

Ryell Creedant, a recently promoted warrior, rides with Shawna’s forces. When
the enemy captures Shawna, people begin to turn to Ryell for advice and
tactics.  Having no magic, no formal education, and little command experience,
Ryell feels unequipped and overwhelmed, but the enemy cannot be allowed to
win. Nor can she hesitate while the enemy holds Shawna, risking that her
supreme commander will be tortured and then executed.

Strategies will go unplanned without decisive action.

Ryell must ignore her fears, hide her self-doubts, and shoulder the
responsibilities thrust on or the invasion will succeed.

Shawna Benedict, the realm’s highest military commander and a top-level
sorceress, has frequently fought in battles involving magic. However, the
wizards who serve the invading Risliyon army use a perverted magic, unlike
any she’s seen before. The Risliyon spells can’t be countered, warping nature
and creating wounds the realm’s magicians cannot heal. Even Shawna’s
phenomenal sorcery skills can barely slow their advance.
The enemy also attacks with incredible precision. Shawna suspects that
someone in her own command is feeding the enemy information.
She must find a way to counter the distorted magic. She must stop the traitor.

Because if she doesn’t, the Risliyons will win.

Ryell Creedant, a recently promoted warrior, is riding with Shawna’s forces
when the Risliyons strike on several fronts, executing government and military
leaders—and capturing Shawna.

Ryell is no magician, and she’s only a minor commander—but with much of the
command structure wiped out, people are turning to her for advice and strategies.
Ryell might be out of her depth…but the enemy is winning. And worse, her
supreme commander will be tortured, and then executed, unless Ryell can
mount a rescue.

Without magic.

Without command experience.

But she has to succeed…or Shawna will die.
